Book the building!

There are three spaces that can be hired in the Bowling Club: upstairs rehearsal & bar lounge, the mezzanine with kitchen & meeting area, and the downstairs co-working space. The building can also be hired as a whole for large events. The ex-bowling green out front is owned by the City Council and is publicly accessible (including to hirers) on a non-exclusive basis. Please note we are in the midst of a residential area and need to be considerate of our neighbours. We aren’t keen on events that have the potential to run late and/or be very loud.

We have numerous upright chairs, several trestle and smaller tables, couches and armchairs. Feel free to re-arrange these, but please put them back afterwards. There is assorted glassware and cutlery, numerous plates, tea towels, some bowls, limited serving dishes and utensils; we don’t have much cookware. (All donations welcome!)

1. The mezzanine with kitchen and the seating area next to it. This space measures 8.7×7.6m, seats 8-20 and is available for hire just as a meeting room, or with our newly completed kitchen. The kitchen has prep and wash sinks, 5-burner gas stove with gas oven, microwave, hot water zip, fridge with small freezer, and a Hobart sterilizer.

 

2. The large upstairs space. This comprises the rehearsal space with wooden floor (7.5×10.9m; sit down dinners have catered for ~90 people) and tuned Haake upright piano, and…

 

…the bar & lounge with couch seating (best for groups 20-30).

(The bar and rehearsal spaces are next to each other. They can partially be separated by folding doors, but these aren’t soundproof so we tend not to schedule different events in them at the same time.)

 

3. Finally, the co-working space downstairs.  You can rent a desk on a weekly basis, or come in to work casually by the day – email us to ask.
